The local rotary club has partnered with a group in Guatemala to replace wood stoves found in most homes and businesses, with environmentally friendly vented stoves. Not only does this provide for better quality indoor air, improving the overall health of it’s users, it also minimizes the amount of wood that is used, preserving a valuable natural resource. Rotarians, their families and friends of all ages, have traveled to Guatemala to assist in the assembly of these affordable stoves. Expertly laser engraved plates commemorating the individual stoves are donated as part of the effort.
